Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Mataram. The West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police received assistance from the Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Kapolri) in the form of an Oxygen Concentrator, consisting of 50 units of Oxygen Machine and 50 Units of Oxygen Hose.
Head of Logistics for the West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police, Pol. Grand Commissioner Beny Basir Warmansyah, who received the goods, confirmed that his party had received assistance from the National Police Chief in the form of an Oxygen Concentrator.
"Yes, this morning we have received goods in the form of an Oxygen Concentrator, which consists of 50 units of Oxygen Machine and 50 Units of Oxygen Hose, assistance from the National Police Chief," he explained.
It was explained that the Oxygen Concentrator was intended for the West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police's Doctor and Health Division (Biddokes Polda NTB) which would be placed at the Bhayangkara Hospital (RS) Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province.
On the other hand, the Head of the Bhayangkara Hospital (Rumkit) Mataram City, Pol. Grand Commissioner Attendant I Komang Tresna explained that the Oxygen Concentrator is a tool that can be used to produce oxygen in hospitals, as a solution so that hospitals are not affected by oxygen scarcity.
"This tool can be used as a solution to anticipate oxygen scarcity, because this tool can produce oxygen whenever the patient needs it," he explained.
The way the tool works, in general, the Oxygen Concentrator will take the air around the device, and filter it to become pure oxygen that can be used for patients.
Explained, Oxygen Concentrator is a medical device that serves to provide oxygen to people who have respiratory problems. People with oxygen levels in their blood below normal limits usually need this tool.
Air contains about 78 percent nitrogen, 21 percent oxygen and 1 percent of other gases. Oxygen Concentrator will take this air and filter nitrogen through a filter, then this device releases nitrogen back into the air and ensures that the wearer breathes air that contains pure oxygen.
When oxygen levels are below 94%, it can indicate a respiratory problem. This condition usually requires hospitalization. However, the rapid increase in COVID-19 cases and the limited supply of oxygen have limited access to medical care.
Oxygen concentrators can help increase oxygen in people who have saturation levels between 88-92 percent, if oxygen levels are lower, then these people require more intensive care.
"However, if the oxygen level is higher, then the person does not need the device," he concluded.
