West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police Held Security Plan in Approaching 2022 MotoGP Indonesia at the Mandalika Circuit

Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Lombok. Before the commencement of MotoGP Indonesia 2022, the Mandalika circuit would hold pre-season trials on February 11-13, 2022. West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Regional Police would prepare all kinds of vulnerabilities that potentially disturb the event.

Chief of Operation Bureau of NTB Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner Imam Thobroni, explained that the security operation would be started on December 2021.

The early stages are by strengthening coordination between NTB Regional Police, Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) as the manager of the Mandalika International Street Circuit, and Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) as the race promotor.

ITDC and MGPA managed the security at the first and second rings. The first ring is the paddock area, the second one is the inner circuit area, and the third ring is at the outer circuit area.

"In the MotoGP event, we want everything to be coordinated. It is indeed that we will guard the outermost ring. However, if the one inside is not ready, everyone could be overwhelmed", the Chief of Operation Bureau said on Monday (13/12/2021).

Chief of Operation Bureau added that the MotoGP security is the same as the World Superbike (WSBK) event, which was successfully held in the Mandalika circuit on November 19-21, 2021.

"Security for MotoGP must be better because we have known our shortcomings. Importantly, the ITDC and MGPA internal boards are more proactive. We must do it together", he further explained.

The security of 2021 WSBK Indonesia in the 2021 Mandalika Rinjani Operation left several notes, such as spectator transport from the entrance corridor of Lombok island at the five locations towards the circuit arena.

Another note is on the first and second ring security that has been the attention of Dorna Sports.

"We will make security pattern as detailed as possible. We will repair and perfect our shortcomings", Police Grand Commissioner Imam said.

To create detailed security plans, NTB Regional Police would hold some focused group discussions to identify vulnerability potentials. And then, they will hold tactical floor games, rehearsal in security simulation, and personnel rallies.

"From the beginning, we will collect valid information so that there would be more hesitation in acting at the field", he concluded.
