West Kalimantan Regional Police Name 16 Suspects in Case of Destruction of Houses of Worship in Sintang District

Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Pontianak. The West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan) Regional Police stated that so far they have named 16 people as suspects in the alleged vandalism of a house of worship that occurred in Sintang Regency.

"The West Kalimantan Regional Police have named 16 suspects as of this morning," said the Head of Public Relations of the West Kalimantan Regional Police, Pol. Grand Commissioner Donny Charles Go in Jakarta, Tuesday (09/07/21).

According to the West Kalimantan Regional Police Intermediate Officer, as many as 16 suspects are strongly suspected of playing a role as the party that carried out the destruction of the mosque. However, the police are still investigating the 'brain' or intellectual actor in the incident.

"His role is suspected of being the perpetrator of vandalism," said Pol. Grand Commissioner Donny Charles Go.

The previous incident was the destruction of the Ahmadiyah Mosque in Temunak, Sintang, West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan) on Friday, September 3, 2021. This incident attracted the attention of several groups.

Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas previously asked law enforcement officials to take firm action against the perpetrators of the destruction of the Ahmadiyah congregation's place of worship in Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan by a group of people. According to him, the act of vigilantism is not justified and is a violation of the law.
