National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo reviewed the simultaneous mass vaccination in 34 provinces of Indonesia. This time, Kapolri directly inspects the vaccination at Candi Borobudur, Magelang, Central Java, Friday (18/2/2022).

The General said that this mass vaccination was held in 5,107 different places around Indonesia with the goals of 1,114,750 doses inoculation, 834,474 for the first and second dose, and 280,276 for the third dose.

“There are 71 vaccination programs at Central Java with the target of 35,000 and we hope we can inoculate 38,000 using vaccine AstraZeneca,” said Sigit.

The ex-Kabareskrim Polri said the decision behind choosing Borobudur Museum as the vaccination center in Central Java is because it is one of the tourist attractions with a lot of crowd interaction.

“So we have to accelerate vaccination optimally,” said Sigit.

This vaccine acceleration is part of steps in facing Covid-19 new variant, Omicron, that has run rampant across Indonesia. In Central Java itself, there have been surging cases of Omicron with around 2,000 cases last week and reaching 4,000 on February 17.

“This has become our attention, and according to the order of The President, that we have to accelerate vaccination and obviously upholding the restrictions around the nation,” stated Sigit in one of his statements.

The former Banten Police Chief stated that this vaccine acceleration is important, especially towards children and the elderly, because there has been a surging death rate among the elders.

He ordered his institute to work hand to hand with Forkopimda in accelerating vaccination, starting from mobile vaccine to vaccine door to door.

“In this opportunity, I would like to ask to implore all parties to help inform the people that have not received the second dose to get theirs. And to those who have in the last six months, I advise you to get your booster vaccine to ensure our preparedness against Omicron,” said Sigit.

Sigit stated that vaccine inoculation is for the protection against Omicron, so the activities in the community and the economy in the region could grow well.
