inp.polri.go.id. - Jakarta. Crime Investigation Agency of Indonesia National Police again uncovered cases of money laundering (TPPU) and fraud through an online loan application (Pinjol) called RP Cepat. This disclosure stems from public reports regarding the existence of loan applications with high interest rates.
Deputy Director of Special Economic Crimes (Wadirtipideksus) of Crime Investigation Agency of Indonesia National Police, Police Grand Commissioner Wisnu Hermawan, said during RP Cepat application did not have legality from Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK).
“We inform the public that the RP Cepat application does not have a permit, legally this company does not have a permit. This is in accordance with the results of our direct investigation and the OJK in the field," Deputy Director of Special Economic Crimes told reporters.
Furthermore, he said in carrying out its operations, the manager of the RP Cepat application does not have a fixed location or company address.
“They moved around, most recently in West Jakarta, it was revealed that the company was renting a house. From here, five people were arrested and two people suspected of controlling the application to enter the DPO (people search list), allegedly foreign nationals from China," he said.
It is known that the two DPOs from China, initials GK and XW, are suspected to be still in Indonesia and are currently being banned from going abroad by the Director General of Immigration.
Deputy Director of Special Economic Crimes also emphasized that the five suspects and the two DPOs were not determined based on the application of high interest rates only, but also related to SMS blasting and terror to borrowers of money before the stipulated deadline. This causes left unrest in the community.
"We can see this through the existing evidence in the form of SIM cards and other tools, they also do SMS blasting to borrowers. This is clearly very disturbing, although the victims suffered very small losses, but the amount if accumulated is very large," he said.
