Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays next month, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, reminded the government to anticipate that there would be no spike in cases.

We will soon enter the Christmas and New Year holidays, as we know that at this moment, the Covid-19 cases in Europe are all rising. Therefore, there are several things that I want to convey, said the President, starting his directive when chairing a Limited Meeting regarding the Evaluation of the Implementation of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM), Monday (22/11/21).

First, the Head of State requested that all ministries and institutions have the same frequency in controlling the Covid-19 pandemic, especially in December.

I ask all ministries and institutions to have the same frequency in facing this December 2021. So, again, have the same frequency! Don't get caught up in sectoral egos; prioritize cooperation, prioritize coordination so that it appears that we have the same frequency, he said.

Second, the President was also reminded about implementing health protocols in implementing a series of high-level summit (KTT) G20, which will begin to be held in early December in Jakarta and Bali. Indonesia's G20 presidency will take place from 1 December 2021.

"The kick-off activity for the Sherpa Meeting at the G20 Summit will be held in Jakarta and kick-off for the Finance Track in Bali in early December so that the world will see us. Therefore, our ability to control the pandemic is really tested and mainly in carrying out health protocols," he explained.

In this regard, the President emphasized the importance of assistance from the Covid-19 Handling Task Force (Satgas) to welcome the arrival of delegates, starting from arrivals at airports, hotels and the surrounding environment to the summit venue.

Third, the President asked the relevant ranks to communicate well to the public regarding implementing Level 3 Community Activity Restriction Enforcement throughout Indonesia this Christmas and New Year, including conveying information about the development of cases and the increase in cases in Europe.

"This is very important as a background for the decisions that we will take because there are some who reject the implementation of Level 3 Community Activity Restriction Enforcement because they want the situation to return to normal. However, we must remember that anything, especially tourism in Bali, is affected the most. However, it also needs to be explained that if the situation is not controlled, it will hit our economy and tourism. Moreover, once again, we will host 150 meetings at the G20," said the President.

Fourth, the President ordered regional heads to continue to balance gas and brakes to control the pandemic and recover the economy.

"It should also be conveyed to governors, regents and mayors to balance the gas and brakes so that we can maintain the momentum (of the economy) to grow positively. We know that in the second quarter (the economy) grew 7.07 percent, in the third quarter it grew 3.51 percent, and we hope that in the fourth quarter it will be better than the third quarter," said the President.

Fifth, the Head of State asked the Minister of Health to ensure the readiness of health facilities in dealing with the surge in Covid-19 cases. "I ask the Minister of Health to take anticipatory steps to ensure the readiness of hospitals in the event of a spike in sick patients during late December and early January 2022, especially mapping the situation and especially in areas that have the potential to increase cases," he said.

Finally, Jokowi again reminded his staff to meet the vaccination coverage target at the end of the year, which is 70 percent of the total target.

"I asked to be proactive in picking up the ball and also visiting the community, and I asked for backups from the National Armed Forces and National police, especially for the elderly. I saw that the door to door (vaccination) conducted by State Intelligence Agency was also good because it was taken for the elderly to be vaccinated. We hope, especially for local governments that are still low on vaccinations, to be given special assistance," he concluded.
