Papua - The Asmat tribe, which is one of the Papuan native ethnicities that spread mainly across the Jayawijaya mountains, and consists of 100,000 people, has a strong influence on religious harmony in the Papuan mountains. Regarding this fact, the Noken Community Development Unit (Binmas Noken) of the Indonesian National Police arrived to build good relationships between the religious figures of the Asmat tribe with the Indonesian National Police to achieve synergy in maintaining security and order in the Asmat regency.
Through the KOTEKA Programme (Communication with Political Elites, Religious, Tribal, and Community Figures), three Binmas Noken personnel arrived on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at 09.20 in the Aswet village, Agats district, Asmat regency. Once arrived at the tribal figure's Honai house, the Binmas Noken team addressed their purpose and objectives, which is to establish relationships with the figures of Asmat regency to build cooperation in order to materialise conducive security and order situation in the neighbourhood.
Conducive security and order are some of the main factors that must be kept and maintained. The public activities in the village also run normally, which means a conducive security and order situation. Therefore, Binmas Noken asked the cooperation relationship could be fostered. Until today, the things around security and order situation that taking personnel's attention is the never-ending alcoholic drinking problems. However, Binmas Noken would try to stop those alcoholic drinks sellers.
Therefore, Binmas Noken asked the chieftain of Asmat and religious figures to advise the people to report to the nearby police station or Binmas Task Force if there were people who disturbed the security and order situation. "Don't let these people roam around our neighbourhood because it could harm us", one of Binmas Noken personnel said.
The activity was ended by the distribution of contact facilities of Binmas Noken to the traditional figures.
