Minister of Environment and Forestry (LHK), Siti Nurbaya, revealed that the application of the National Digital Control Analysis System (ASAP), related to the prevention of forest and land fires (karhutla) initiated by the National Police, will be brought to the world level to be used as a pilot or showcase.
The Minister of Environment and Forestry said that the ASAP application would be exhibited at the 26th Conference of Parties (COP) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) held in Glasgow, England.
“I proposed to the National Police Chief for this to be a showcase, so that climate change will be held in Glasgow, October 30 to November 12. This is also a clear example of the discussion about forest and land fires in ASEAN and the European Union that has been carried out and Indonesia is a good example," explained the Minister of Environment and Forestry at a press conference at the National Police Headquarter Building, South Jakarta, Wednesday (09/15). 2021).
The Minister of Environment and Forestry said that the ASAP application launched by the National Police is one of the digital analysis systems that are very important for the national agenda related to the handling and prevention of forest and land fires.
“This is a very extraordinary step because it can be permanent for institutions. So if you look at the system, institutionally, from the site level to the national level, it is very important, it means that for Indonesia this is a matter of pride and proves that forest and land fires are handled very seriously," said the Minister of Environment and Forestry.
According to the Minister of Environment and Forestry, the impact of forest and land fires is very detrimental to Indonesia. Given, actually contributes the largest carbon emissions in the atmosphere damage due to climate change.
"As an illustration, approximately 900 million of which were damaged, about 486 million were originally from forest and land fires, so 50 percent more and we can handle this well," he concluded.
Therefore, the Minister of Environment and Forestry stated that ASAP is a very good system institutionally. According to him, it helps and makes Indonesia proud. The reason is, Indonesia has been used as an example by several other countries regarding the handling of forest and land fires.
"Some of these countries have learned from Indonesia, so I think what Indonesia itself has done in the world nationally is indeed a lot of things to be proud of," said the Minister of Environment and Forestry.
Previously, the National Police Chief General of Police Listyo Sigit Prabowo, officially launched or launched the National Digital Control Analysis System (ASAP) Application, to accelerate the handling of forest and land fires.
The National Police Chief revealed that this National Digital ASAP will later integrate with the application for handling forest and land fires, which are owned by Ministries/Agencies (K/L), State-Owned Enterprise, and the Regional Police. Thus, the National Police Chief continued, this could accelerate the prevention and handling of forest and land fires.
“Just now, we both launched the national digital ASAP application.
