The National Police Medical Center Wins MURI Record for Free Cleft Lip Surgery Health Service Activities

inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Health Service activity in the form of cleft lip surgery which was carried out in commemoration of the 75th National Police Doctoral Day succeeded in setting a MURI record. More than 1,000 Indonesian children participated in this free social service activity.
The health service activities were held in 38 hospitals. Bhayangkara in various regions. This activity also broke the MURI record for the most cleft lip surgery category during the pandemic.
 
Head of the National Police Medical and Health Center (Kapusdokkes), Brigadier General. Pol. Rusdianto, said he was concerned about the high number of cleft lip cases in Indonesia. Data shows, there are 540 babies in the world who are born with cleft lip and/or cleft palate, every day.
 
This condition occurs due to imperfection of the process of unification of the lips and palate during fetal development. Children with this condition have the potential to experience health complications, and can even have a negative impact on children's social lives due to the stigma that exists in society.
 
"Therefore, the National Police Health Center for the second time held a Social Service for Free Cleft Lip Surgery simultaneously throughout Indonesia, while still implementing health protocols during the new adaptation period. This activity is the result of collaboration with Smile Train Indonesia," explained the Chairman of Doctor and Medic Center of National Police.
 
Jusuf Ngadri, MURI board congratulated on the record achieved.
 
"We appreciate the noble dedication of Smile Train Indonesia, the National Police Health Center and Perapi who have made efforts to help cleft patients in Indonesia, even in these challenging times," said Jusuf Ngadri.
 
Free Cleft Lip Surgery Service is carried out during the period of June 2021. As of June 15, 2021, more than 1,000 patients are registered, and 752 operations have been successfully carried out in 38 hospitals. Bhayangkara from all over Indonesia.
