The Indonesian National Police Explains the Background of the Arrest of the Suspected Terrorist Farid Okbah

The Indonesian National Police said that the Indonesian People's Da'wah Party (PDRI) was a new forum for Jamaah Islamiyah (JI), which suspected terrorist Farid Ahmad Okbah founded. Head of Public Information of the Indonesian National Police Public Relations Division, Police Grand Commissioner Ahmad Ramadhan, said that the party's establishment was carried out after consultations were carried out with another terrorist suspect named (AS) who had been previously arrested.

"He (Farid Okbah) helped provide solutions to the AS brothers who had been arrested related to securing JI members after the arrest of PW brothers by creating a new forum. The party formed by FAO is the Indonesian People's Da'wah Party or PDRI," explained the Head of Public Information, Tuesday (16/11/2021).

The Head of Public Information explained that FO has several backgrounds in the JI terrorist network. From the Detachment's investigation results, he was part of the elder team or Shura Council in the terrorist organization.

The Head of Public Information said that FO is also a member of the sharia board of the Abdurrahman Bin Auf Mal Zakat Agency (LAZ BM ABA) or a charity foundation established to fund JI via charity boxes.

According to him, FO was also involved in a meeting related to the cadre of Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) in Bekasi.

The Special Detachment 88 Anti-terror of Indonesian National Police arrested three suspected terrorists in the Bekasi area, West Java, on Tuesday (16/11). One of them is the board of the central Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI).
