The Chief of North Sumatra Regional Police Provides Assistance to Flood Victims in Batubara

Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Medan. The Chief of North Sumatra Regional Police, Police Inspector General RZ Panca Putra Simanjuntak, handed over 1,000 social assistance packages of necessities to flood victims in Batubara Regency.

The food package assistance given by the Chief of North Sumatra Regional Police was handed over to the Chief of Batubara Departemental Police, Police Grand Commissioner Attendant Ikhwan Lubis, to residents located in Kwala Sikasim Village, Sei Balai District, Batubara Regency, Friday (20/8/2021).

The food packages distributed were divided into four sub-districts, namely Sei Balai District, Nibung Hangus, Datuk Tanah Datar and Talawi Sub-districts, while also establishing shared kitchens at several points.

Also present at the distribution of the food items were the Chief Deputy of Batubara Departemental Police, Police Commissioner Rudy Chandra, Battalion Commander of Mobile Brigade Unit B, the head of the Ministry of Religion, Platoon Commander of Tanjungbalai Naval Base Platoon Commander and the sub-district heads.

“The distribution of social assistance packages was taken by the sub-district heads and village heads who were affected by the flood. Then it is distributed to the community accompanied by Noncommissioned law enforcement officer posted in villages and Community Police Officers," said the Chief of Batubara Departemental Police, Police Grand Commissioner Attendant Ikhwan Lubis.

It is known that heavy rains for the last four days and exacerbated by flooding from Asahan caused 5,806 houses in Batubara Regency to be flooded.

“There were no fatalities in the flood disaster in Batubara. However, we still urge residents to remain vigilant in anticipation of further flooding," concluded the Chief of Batubara Departemental Police.
