inp.polri.go.id. – Merauke. Densus 88 Anti Terror of Indonesian National Police arrested ten suspects of terrorist in Merauke as they had planned suicide bomb in several of churches.
Chief of Papua Regional Police, Police Inspectorate General Mathius D. Fakhiri, mentioned the suspected terrorirst who planned suicide bomb are indicated part of Jemaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) network. They are also the suspect of suicidal bomb in Cathedral Church in Makassar, South Sulawesi.
“The 10 terrorists were arrested since Friday (05/28) and will be scheduled to fly them to Jayapura on Wednesday (06/02),” as explained by the Chief of Papua Regional Police.
According to the Chief of Papua Regional Police, the suspected terrorist often travelled to Makassar, and it was related to the suicide bomb.
The 10 terrorists arrested were AK, SB, ZR, UAT, DS, SD, WS, YK, AP, and IK, and of the 10 people, there are couple, AP and IK (woman).
They were arrested because there was indication of suicide bombing in number of churches around Merauke.
Densus 88 also secured various evidences such as various sharp weapons and firearms, as explained by the Chief of Papua Regional Police. He also mentioned that there was a report that the group had vowed allegiance.
“We are waiting for the Densus 88 investigation,” the Chief of Papua Regional Police closed the interview.
