The Sub-Directorate of Corruption (Subdit Tipidkor) of the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) of North Sulawesi Regional Police (Polda Sulut) arrested another suspect of corruption in the Drinking Water Program for Bitung City for Low-Income Communities (MBR) Fiscal Years (FY) 2017 and 2018.
The Head of Public Relations (Kabid Humas) of Polda Sulut, Commissioner Jules Abraham Abast confirmed the apprehension of that one suspect is related to the corruption case of the drinking water program.
“The suspect is a man with the initials MNL (29), from Palu, Central Sulawesi, and a Regional Manager of Region II PT. Sucofindo in 2017. The suspect has been detained at the North Sulawesi Police since Thursday (24/022)," said Commissioner Jules Abraham Abast.
MNL is arrested under the arrest warrant of Sp.Han/5/II/2022/DitReskrimsus, February 24, 2022.
The disclosure and handling of the case were based on the Police Report received by the North Sulawesi Regional Police, back on April 19, 2021, ago.
Jules adds that from the corruption that cost the loss of Rp14.000.000.000, the investigators had already one suspect, RL (49), from Bitung City, and he is a former director of PDAM Duasudara Bitung City.
After examining as outlined in the Investigation Report (BAP) of the suspect, MNL has sufficient evidence to be strongly identified as suspected of a criminal act of corruption related to the Bitung City Drinking Water Program Activities for MBR FY 2017 and 2018, as referred to in Articles 2 and/or 3 of the Republic of Indonesia Law. Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20 of 2001 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) to 1-e of the Criminal Code, and fulfills the subjective and objective requirements of a suspect to be detained.
"We checked MNL health and did a Covid-19 test at the Bhayangkara Manado Hospital, and was declared in good health before being admitted to the North Sulawesi Police," concluded the North Sulawesi Regional Police Intermediate Officer.
