Team of Directorate of Cybercrime of the Criminal Investigation Agency of Indonesian National Police, led by the director, Police Brigadier General Asep Edi Suheri, and Team of Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights, met with FBI to discuss collaboration in exposing international cybercrime involving several countries, held in the FBI Headquarter, Washington DC, on Tuesday (30/11/21).
The visitation of the Team of Directorate of Cybercrime of the Criminal Investigation Agency of Indonesian National Police and Team of Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights was welcomed by the officers of FBI Cyber Division and representatives of FBI Local Office of Washington DC.
The aim of the visit of the Team of Directorate of Cybercrime of the Criminal Investigation Agency of Indonesian National Police and Team of Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights is to discuss collaboration on hacking cases being handled and discuss the cyber threat models that happened in each country. It is expected that the collaboration would expose case handlings in which the perpetrators and victims come from Indonesia, the USA, or other countries.
Besides, they also discuss the success of exposing and arrest of hacking tools sellers used to hack international startup user accounts. This selling of hacking tools or code has targeted 70,000 accounts spread across 43 countries. Based on the initial investigation, the loss is estimated at Rp27 billion. Even so, the amount of loss and victims could be increased along with case development.
Team of Directorate of Cybercrime of the Criminal Investigation Agency of Indonesian National Police has investigated several victims in states and cities of the US such as New York, Washington DC, and Los Angeles. This activity is also supported by the FBI and Indonesian consulates in every state, mainly regarding the interrogation technical coordination conducted by the Team of Directorate of Cybercrime of the Indonesian National Police.
