Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya postponed the street races or street races event in the Bekasi City areas because the case of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Omicron variant, was increasingly spreading.
"The event will be held when the Omicron begins to subside. We should have played in mid-February. But because Covid-19 is still high, then we are postponing it untul the right time," explained Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya Commissioner Sambodo Purnomo Yogo, Wednesday (2/2/22).
Commissioner Sambodo Purnomo Yogo explained that although it was postponed for a while, his team still continued to make preparations for the street racing event, such as preparation of the racing arena to meetings with the racing community.
"We are still preparing for the circuit, preparing for the implementation, the meeting with the community is still ongoing. It is just that the event would be postponed until the right time," explained the Traffic Director.
Previously, the inaugural street racing event held in the Ancol area, North Jakarta, will be held again outside the Jakarta area such as Tangerang and Bekasi. At least, there are three locations designated as the venue for the race. "There are three locations that have been prepared, BSD, Meikarta and Vida Bekasi City," explained Dirlantas, Monday (24/1/22).
