The National Police of Indonesia (Polri) always give their all in solving and helping the community, either when the disaster hits or not. The real example of this statement is, recently we can see how they were actively involved in aiding the people of West Pasaman, West Sumatra, and also in Banten when both of those two regions were heavily damaged by the natural disasters.
With the locals, the police helped the community in doing the evacuation, making an emergency kitchen, and also other kinds of aid they can think of.
Seeing how sincere the police are in helping the community, it can make the people moved by their efforts. It is hoped that the efforts by the police could make the community believe that they are not alone in facing their adversary.
Therefore, the aid efforts by the police must be seen in a positive light, not cynically. Instead, it is weird if that aid was seen cynically.
Seizing the natural disaster moment to polish the image of the police obviously has its dangers. In delivering a message, however it is, the effectiveness of the message is not only determined by how it is delivered but also by what is the message itself. If the police are not giving their best in helping the community, it will be easy for the community to see them with a cynical glare.
And, if the reputation of the police is negative in the eyes of the community, it will be hard to turn it back, however, the media tried to give them another perspective or twist it.
However, if the police gave their all and the community welcomed it happily, the image of the police will definitely be leveled up and the people will trust and commend the authorities automatically.
And if that positive message is amplified through social media, it will further enhance the positive impact. So, let us always help each other hand in hand for the sake of our nation.
