Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Anti-terrorism Special Detachment 88 of National Police stated that social media is a fertile medium for spreading radicalism, intolerance, and terrorism in Indonesia.
The Main Analyst of Anti-terrorism Special Detachment 88 of National Police, Police Brigadier General Ibu Suhaendra, said that social media could change someone's character in a short time. "We often feel worried with the social media that often utilised for the spread of radicalism, intolerance, and terrorism", he said on Friday (28/5/21).
Police Brigadier Ibnu Suhaendra added that someone could easily find teachings on making suicide bombs, becoming martyrs, and other radical teachings through social media.
Meanwhile, a humanist and a Special Staff for Pancasila Ideology Education Board, Father Benny Susatyo, concerns the social media usage in the country.
According to Father Benny, the Indonesian individual challenge is to keep the nation's dignity by defending Pancasila in the social media field. "If we observe Pancasila, then we conducted the right path of religion. We have to make social media as a (self-)building medium", Father Benny concludes.
