"The social activity is distributing rice and packages of nine-basic-needs to community during PPKM period. It is currently being intensively carried out to ease the burden of people affected by policies to reduce Covid-19 transmissions, which have experienced a surge recently," Chief of South Sumatera Regional Police, Inspector General Eko Indra Heri. S said. in Palembang, Monday.
To distribute rice aid and packages of nine-basic-needs, he stated he is ready to go directly to slum area, traditional markets, terminals, and other places in Palembang City and other areas of South Sumatera.
"Community is expected to be patient in dealing with difficult conditions as a result of the long-term Covid-19 pandemic, by implementing strict health protocols and supporting the program to handle new type of corona virus outbreak," he said.
PPKM policy is to overcome the surge in the spread of Covid-19. It is expected to receive maximum support from all levels of society.
In addition, Chief of South Sumatera Regional Police hopes with community support to comply with rules during PPKM and apply strict health protocols, transmission of Covid-19 can be controlled and this pandemic can be ended soon.
In addition to South Sumatera Regional Police, the ranks of II/Sriwijaya Military Area Command are also active in helping people whose economy have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Military Area Command II/Sriwijaya Commander-in-Chief, Major General Agus Suhardi provided assistance to people who were self-isolating in "slum area" of Ilir Timur I District, Palembang, Tuesday (07/27).
"We did a 'door to door' handing over packages of nine-basic-needs to number of people who were doing self-isolation," Chief of South Sumatera Regional Police said.
His party seeks to ease people’s economic burden in Palembang and other areas in South Sumatera region, including the provinces of South Sumatera, Lampung, Bengkulu, Jambi, and Bangka Belitung.
"The aid in the form of 10 kg of rice per family head for people affected by Covid-19 pandemic is sought to be distributed directly by him and the personnel of the Military Command II / Sriwijaya so it really reachesd the right people," Chief of South Sumatera Regional Police said.
