Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Palembang. Chief of South Sumatra Regional Police, Police Inspector General Toni Harmanto, led the second coordination meeting of the FGD of synergy and security and order situation maintenance at the Rekonfu Room of South Sumatra Regional Police Headquarter on Monday (4/10/21).

Using the topics of Covid-19 handling, forest fires, drugs abuse, illegal mining, and illegal drilling, the Chief of South Sumatra Regional Police stated that the first FGD has actualised illegal mining and drilling mapping.

"We have closed 998 illegal oil wells in South Sumatra and arrested six suspects with the evidence", he said in the middle of the FGD coordination meeting. Besides, there are also talks on adequate working field preparation for people conducted illegal mining by the regional government.

"We ensure the firm legal sanctions for the gas station corporation and individual miners to suppress the hoarder's distribution chain", he said.

For the perpetrators of illegal drilling, there could be recruitment to the companies as the education effort to the local illegal drillers (companies as the "father" of local mining communities).

Besides, the CSR givers from the company would be utilised as capital assistance and education training for the illegal drillers. "We also would conduct recovery for the environmental damages, investigate, and enforce the law for the illegal drilling financiers", he said.

The event was attended by many elements from institutions such as provincial government, Commander of 2nd/Sriwijaya Military Region, Regional 7 Office of Financial Service Authority, Chiefs of City Departmental Police and Departmental Police, Regents, Mayors, and others through Zoom meeting.
