Smuggling 3,726 Illegal Birds to Java Island Successfully Prevented

Tribratanews.polri.go.id. – Lampung. A joint team from the Lampung Regional Police, the Bengkulu Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA) and Flight Protecting Indonesian Bird managed to thwart the smuggling of 3,726 birds of various species.
Head of Public Relations of the Lampung Police, Pol. Grand Commissioner Zahwani Pandra Arsyad, said that the illegal shipment of animals was based on public information, which was followed up by collecting data and information in the Seputih Raman area, Central Lampung.
"There are allegations of illegal trade activities sending wildlife to Java Island. Then joint officers snooped on the BE 8732 GP truck," explained Head of PR.
When the truck was about to be stopped, the truck kept moving, resulting in a chase. The truck finally stopped and was searched.
"When examined, it turned out that there were 3,726 birds out of 36 protected bird species," added the Head of PR.
The vehicle was driven by drivers with the initials BA (38) and B (22), residents of Central Lampung. Both are currently being investigated further.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA) Region III Bengkulu, Lampung, Hipzon Jawahiri, said that there are nine protected bird species, namely parrots, cililin, cicadaun, blue-winged cicadaun, large cicadaun, red-necked honeybird and tutut turtle. .
"On average they take from Jambi, Riau, West Sumatra and others," he said.
