Tribratnews.polri.go.id – Jakarta. National Police's Chief of Criminal Investigation Agency, Pol. General Commissioner Agus Andrianto, said that during the Covid-19 pandemic since 2020, the National Police had successfully handled 131 cases of misappropriation of social assistance. Of these cases, as many as 13 cases have entered the investigation process, 35 cases are still under investigation, 26 cases have been transferred to the Government Internal Supervisory Apparatus (APIP), and the remaining 57 cases have been terminated.
The Head of the Criminal Investigation Agency of the National Police explained that the modes of misappropriation of social assistance were varied. Starting from cutting the amount of money that is the right of each beneficiary to deliberately providing direct assistance in the form of rice so that the amount of aid money can be cut.
"This means that the methods that have been used by them in addition to cutting the amount of money that is the right of each person who receives the social assistance are cut in part," explained the National Police Chief of Criminal Investigation Agency during a press conference with Social Minister Tri Rismaharini at the Ministry of Social Affairs Office, Central Jakarta (08/24/ 2021).
The police continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Social Affairs to follow up on the misuse of social assistance, it is quite a tough job, because we have to fix this arrangement from the top then from the bottom. Then if there are deviations, they are being corrected by the Minister of Social Affairs.
One of the misappropriation of social assistance funds occurred in Malang Regency, East Java. The total misappropriated social assistance funds amounted to a total of IDR 450 million. The threat of punishment for the perpetrators in Malang is life imprisonment.
