Sharpening the Shooting Skills for 152 Garuda Polri Personnel for UN Peacekeeping Mission to Anticipate Terror in Conflict Region of Central African Republic

The Garuda Team of the Indonesian National Police (Garuda Polri team) for the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in the conflict region of the Central African Republic (CAR) keeps preparing. 152 personnel of Indonesian National Police in the FPU 3 MINUSCA (Formed Police Unit 3 - United Nations Mission Integrated Multidimensional Stabilization in the Central African Republic) from various regions and units are under the examination to sharpen their shooting aim using the 5.56 calibre SS V5 firearm with a shooting distance of 25-30 metres.
Chief of International Mission Bureau of International Relations Division of Indonesian National Police, Police Brigadier General Krishna Murti, accompanied by Chief of Peace and Humanitarian Agency, Police Grand Commissioner Oktavianus Marthin and their personnel, witnessed the shooting examination of FPU 3 of Garuda Polri team at the Indonesian National Police Mobile Brigade Training and Education Centre in Cikeas, Bogor, West Java, on Friday (20/8/2021). Still, with two examiners from UN envoys, Colonel Dridi Aymen from Tunisia and First Lieutenant Top Penda from Senegal, they examine the skills of the Garuda Polri team on long-distance shooting. The team's ability in aiming and shooting on target are required to protect themselves and the local residents in anticipating terror and sudden attacks that possibly happens in the conflict region of the Central African Republic. "The situation there (CAR) is qualitative and really dynamic, considering the inter-ethnic conflicts and political situations. Therefore, they (Garuda Polri team) must have excellent private abilities, mainly specialising in the shooting. Here, they are examined by the UN team. We prepare all personnel optimally", Oktavianus Marthin said on Friday (20/8/2021) at the shooting exam location of Garuda Polri at the Indonesian National Police Mobile Brigade Training and Education Centre in Cikeas, Bogor, West Java. "We are confident with their preparations. We are ready, by the UN standards, to conduct this (peacekeeping) mission. Whatever being burdened onto us, we will ready to conduct it optimally", he continued. Oktavianus Marthin added that by his observation with the team, all Garuda Polri personnel has excellent shooting abilities. With the 25 metre distance on standing and 30-metre distance on kneeling position, all personnel are able to shoot the target with limited ten sharp bullets. On average, his personnel managed to shot the target with all ten bullets. "This sharpening shooting ability is to anticipate accidents during UN tasks later. We see from the shooting regulations asked by the examiner was conducted exceptionally well by the Garuda Polri team. We are 100 per cent ready to conduct this mission", Oktavianus concluded. This peacekeeper team from Indonesian National Police would be tasked on a UN peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic by assisting people and vulnerable groups in that country, including anticipating sudden terrors and attacks that might happen. Garuda Polri team would also conduct ceremonies in facing demonstrations, hostage situations, terrors, protecting and providing security to the local people, and other things at the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps Training and Education Centre on Saturday (21/8/2021). The 152 personnel of the Garuda Team would also conduct an inauguration event at the Lampung Bay, Tegal Mas, Lampung, Sumatra, for one week ahead. All of these preparations are maximised by the National Police before sending the Garuda Polri team to the Central African Republic.
