Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Pekanbaru. The Directorate III of the Riau Regional Police's Criminal Investigation discovered the practice of online gambling in Pekanbaru City. As a result, a total of 59 people were also arrested in a raid carried out by the police in a 3-story shophouse inside the Pemuda Citywalk area of Jalan Pemuda on Saturday (10/16/2021). The shophouse was rented to the manager and then misused to run an online gambling business.
Of the 59 people arrested, 51 of them were women, and the rest were men. All of them have now been detained at the Riau Police and named as suspects. Meanwhile, they were recruited to work there, of which 49 were telemarketers, the other six were customer service, one admin, one guard and two were OB.
These 49 telemarketers are tasked with seducing, inviting their targets to play online gambling. So they contacted the customer and offered the AFK77 and Jaya89 sites to place bets online, explained the Head of Public Relations of the Riau Police, Pol. Grand Commissioner Sunarto was accompanied by the Director of Criminal Investigation, Pol Grand Commissioner Teddy Ristiawan, at the Youth Citywalk complex, Monday afternoon (10/18/2021).
Not kidding, the members who have been successfully invited have reached 808 people since this online gambling started operating on October 10, 2021 yesterday. As a result, the authorities detected it and then carried out a raid on October 16, 2021. Apart from arresting 59 suspects, the police also confiscated several other pieces of evidence.
"We secured other evidence in the form of 51 laptops, cellphones, computers, printers. Their total turnover is IDR 20 million per day," explained the Head of Public Relations of the Riau Regional Police.
Apart from arresting these 59 people, the Directorate of Criminal Investigation of Riau Regional Police is also hunting for Feri. "Our Wanted List, Feri is domiciled in Jakarta. He asked a suspect named Hendri to open an online gambling company with Sofyan, who is in charge of taking care of customer service, and suspect Martoni is in charge of supervising telemarketing activities," explained the Head of Public Relations of the Riau Regional Police.
This ferry also sends 5,000 people's mobile phone numbers every day, which telemarketers then contact by offering online gambling.
"They invite them to place bets online by offering money that can be withdrawn if they win, with a minimum bet of IDR 200,000 and a maximum of infinity," explained the Head of Public Relations of the Riau Regional Police.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Criminal Investigation at the Riau Regional Police, Pol. Grand Commissioner Attendant Teddy Ristiawan explained that his party would immediately coordinate with the Ministry of Communications and Informatics to close the two sites used in online gambling.
"Currently alive but inaccessible. We will immediately coordinate with the Ministry of Communication and Informatics," explained the Head of Public Relations of the Riau Regional Police.
Throughout October 2021, the Riau Police Criminal Investigation Unit III Sub-Directorate has handled 39 gambling cases and arrested 64 suspects. The average model is an online lottery. The total amount of money confiscated was IDR 27,913,000-. The case is under investigation by the police.
