Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Head of Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management Lt. Gen. Suharyanto and Head of General Affair of Military Lt. Gen. Eko Margiyono, directly inspected the process of enforcing health protocols (prokes) against international travellers (PPI) who entered via Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Soetta), Tangerang, Friday (12/24/2021).
In his review on D-1 Christmas celebrations, Sigit stated that there were 14 stages that international travellers would go through when entering Indonesia through Soetta Airport. First, the process starts from inspection to carry out a mandatory quarantine period of 10 days.
We have just carried out direct checks to find out the inspection process related to the arrival of our brothers and sisters, who are international travellers. In general, we see that 14 stages must be passed. "Starting at the time of entry, then the initial inspection is carried out until the last stage is directed to the hotel or guesthouse to carry out quarantine," said Sigit after checking directly at Soetta Airport.
The former Banten Regional Police Chief stressed, to all officers or related parties, to ensure that people who are international travellers must be required to undergo quarantine for ten days. Furthermore, in order to ensure that the International Traveler does not leave the quarantine area, according to Sigit, in addition to manual supervision, there must be the use of information technology applications related to this matter.
Then ensure a ten-day quarantine period. So the community or travellers must be in place. Therefore, applications and information technology plus manual checks will be enforced. "So we are sure that the public or international travellers will remain in place," said the former Police Chief of Criminal Investigation Unit.
Sigit emphasized that vigorous enforcement of the quarantine process for International travellers is critical because it is an effort or anticipation to prevent the growth rate of Covid-19 and the entry of a new variant of Covid-19, namely Omicron in Indonesia. This also prevents a spike in active cases of the coronavirus in the country after the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
"This is important. This is because a new variant of Omicron is currently being developed, and from the Ministry of Health's information, there are already eight cases, which come from abroad. Therefore, from this condition, we will maintain it so that it can be handled properly during the quarantine period," said Sigit.
Therefore, Sigit asked the National Armed Forces and National Police personnel, the Covid-19 Task Force, airport officers and other parties involved to work optimally and professionally in monitoring and supervising the quarantine process for the International Traveler following applicable regulations.
Sigit ensured that anyone who violated the rules related to this quarantine period would be given strict sanctions. According to Sigit, all of this was done in the interest of the safety of the Indonesian people from the Covid-19 virus.
For existing violations, please ensure that the whole process runs without anything being violated because this is for the benefit of other health. The new variant of Omicron develops at five times the rate and can transmit to people who have been vaccinated. These are, of course, steps that we must do well. "This makes people uncomfortable, but we have to do it because people's safety is the highest law," said Sigit.
On that occasion, Sigit and his entourage also took the time to virtually monitor the enforcement of health procedures at airports and other ports. Besides Soetta Airport, there are also Sam Ratulangi Airport, Batam Port, Tanjung Pinang Port, Nunukan Port, Aruk State Border crossing (PLBN), and Entikong Border crossing
In his briefing, Sigit asked airports and ports to prepare strategies and solutions to avoid close contact between fellow international travellers when going through the process before entering quarantine.
"Please find the main solution related to the problem at that time. There has been good progress. Nevertheless, on the other hand, separate the risks so that there is no close contact. Please think. Several inputs are immediately taken to the guesthouse. At the guesthouse, while waiting for a special room to be separated, it was confirmed or not," said Sigit.
Sigit hopes that there must be a routine evaluation stage in this case. So, there is no close contact between the community. Nevertheless, after checking, it turns out that someone has been confirmed as positive for Covid-19.
"There is a tendency for close contact with others. Including complaints that there was a rather long queue and then the time was a bit long which you have to think about. It could be shortened, but the enforcement of rules related to the health process SOPs will still be carried out optimally," concluded Sigit.
