Hundreds of Police Personnel Deployed to Assist the Evacuation of Cianjur Earthquake Victims

Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Cianjur. The National Police Headquarters deployed hundreds of personnel to help and evaucuate the earthquake victims in Cianjur Regency. An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 had extraordinary destructive power in the Cianjur district.

Based on official data from National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB), 62 people were reported dead. On the other hand, there are 326 injured victims with a total of 13,784 refugees.

"Today's main task for personnel is to focus on evacuating victims," explained the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police.

Apart from evacuating victims, personnel were also assigned to assist affected communities such as setting up emergency tents and field kitchens. The police have also prepared field toilets, water tankers, and brought 200 folding mattresses (cots).

"Data on victims is still being gathered. The earthquake caused quite a huge damage causing dozens of people died and hundreds of people injured," said the Head of the Public Relations Division.

Based on information received by the Public Relations Division of the National Police, there are still several victims who have not been evacuated in Cijedil, Cugenang District, Cianjur Regency. In order to help the victims of the Cianjur earthquake, the Police were asked to deploy a Team of Health Doctors (Dokkes) to treat the victims.

"I encourage the police to deployed the National Police Medical Team, set up health posts, and maintain security and order after the earthquake that occurred in Cianjur, West Java," explained DPR RI Commission III member Andi Rio Idris Padjalangi.

It is hoped that Police medical team can afford significant help to the communities affected by the earthquake. They can also help refugees at evacuation posts.

The medical team was also expected to pay attention to the elderly victims, pregnant women, and children through collaboration with the Ministry of Health who were already in the field.

"Give the best health services to the earthquake victims. Let's help them and provide our best service," concluded Andi Rio
