Pursuing Herd Immunity Acceleration, Riau Regional Police Cooperate with UMRI to Hold Vaccination

Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Pekanbaru. The Riau Regional Police again held a mass vaccination. This time the target is for hundreds of students by cooperating with the University of Muhammadiyah (Umri) which is based in Pekanbaru City. This is one of the steps taken by the Police to pursue the target of 70 percent Herd Immunity, and to increase immunity from potential transmission of Covid-19 among students.

Riau Regional Police Chief, Pol. Inspector General Agung Setya Imam Effendi, directly observed the vaccination activity. Also attending were accompanied by the Head of Public Relations of the Riau Regional Police, the Director of General Criminal Investigation, the Director of Special Criminal Investigation and the Head of the Pekanbaru City Police. The arrival of the Regional Police Chief was also welcomed by the UMRI community.

The Riau Regional Police have prepared 640 vaccines (the first 600 vaccines and 40 second vaccines), with the priority for students. As for the second vaccine activity, it will be held within 28 days, after the first vaccine (Today). It looks like students are enthusiastic, especially now that people in Pekanbaru are difficult to get vaccines in a number of existing vaccination services.

"Today the vaccination activity was carried out well. Starting from the registration, everything was good. There were no crowds of participants attending. We also saw that the Task Force from the Campus also monitored and directed. We aim to increase immunity to 70 percent herd immunity," said the Chief of Regional Police.

The Regional Police Chief also assured that the Riau Regional Police wanted vaccinations to be carried out as soon as possible to all levels of society, especially students.

"So that later when the face-to-face learning is held, the requirements will be fulfilled," said the Riau regional Police Chief optimistic.

The Regional Police Chief also added that the Riau Regional Police's incessant effort to accelerate this vaccination was part of an effort to prevent potential exposure to the Corona virus. No less important, added the Regional Police Chief, with other efforts besides vaccination, namely curing patients exposed to Covid-19. This will be maximized if all elements support each other and collaborate.

"We also want to thank the residents of Pekanbaru City. I hope that we all continue to take care of ourselves, reduce activities and ensure that relatives who are exposed are handled properly. Prevention efforts upstream must also be good. We hope that Pekanbaru will soon be down from level IV status," said the Regional Police Chief.

In addition to deploying vaccines by cooperating with other parties, the Riau Regional Police with its Vaccination Center service at the hospital. Bhayangkara Jalan Sudirman also prepares vaccines for the community every day. Even since it started operating, there have been 32,000 people who have been vaccinated at the Riau Regional Police's vaccination center. That's only in the last few months.

As for the stages, residents come a day early to collect forms. Later on the form will include the vaccination schedule. The goal, so that there are no crowds in the vaccination center building, Riau Regional Police. "Attending on one day before to get the form. When there is a schedule, it will be served according to the hour, avoiding crowds and smoothing queues," he added.

"Our vaccination center in a day can serve up to 3,000 peoples. But of course it also depends on the availability of vaccines. That's why we ask the service to increase its availability. We also hope that the distribution of vaccines to Riau will also be increased," said the Riau Regional Police Chief.

The Regional Police Chief believes that with the availability of adequate vaccines, the acceleration of vaccination for the community can be accelerated.

"We can even vaccinate as many as 57 thousand peoples in a day. Of course, this is a great power. However, the number of vaccines is not too much. We (Riau Police) are allocated to complete 19 thousand vaccines. Yesterday we did 16 thousand vaccines. This is extraordinary," concluded the Regional Police Chief.
