Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Pekanbaru. To prevent the understanding of radicalism and terrorism, the Police Public Affairs and Press Directorate of the Indonesian National Police carried out socialization at the Integrated Islamic Junior High School, Kampar Mandani Islamic Foundation.

The Head of the Police Public Affairs and Press Directorate of the Indonesian National Police Team, Police Grand Commissioner V. Bagas Uji Nugroho said that this socialization activity aimed to protect the younger generation from radicalism by providing nationalism.

In his presentation, Police Grand Commissioner V. Bagas Uji Nugroho asked the younger generation, especially the students, to be wise in social media and ward off hoax information that could damage the nation's unity and integrity.

"Evil will prevail if good people remain silent, so let's try to do what's best for the nation and state," explained Police Grand Commissioner V. Bagas Uji Nugroho.

The socialization presented speakers from the Police Public Affairs and Press Directorate of the Indonesian National Police and practitioners and former terrorism convicts.

Makmud Rasyid, one of the speakers, said that Islam does not teach violence or hurt others. Instead, prophet Muhammad taught how to bring religion in the context of nation and state.

Conflicts between groups can destroy a country. Many examples of this are found in countries that are destroyed due to conflict with one another. This should be an example for the Indonesian people to maintain harmony and religious tolerance.

"Let's maintain harmony and tolerance among the nation's children for the sake of the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia," said Makmud Rasyid.

The next speaker, Rangga, a former terrorism convict (Napiter), told his experience of being trapped by radicalism. He also gave an understanding to the students on how to prevent radicalism as the forerunner of terrorism.

Rangga said that one of the characteristics of radicalism is to consider themselves or their group the most correct, like to blame and disbelieve other people who disagree. Just assume it's the right one. These are signs of radicalism.

These are the signs of radicalism that need to be watched out for students at the Integrated Islamic Secondary School Islamic Boarding School, Kampar Mandani Islamic Foundation.

"Seek knowledge properly and be open with other people, so that the students have broad insight, so they are not easily influenced by other people who have bad intentions," explained Rangga.

The socialization against radicalism and terrorism entitled "Terrorism is our common enemy" took place one day, on Wednesday (1/9) at the Umar Bin Abdul Aziz Mosque in the IT Bangkinang Middle School and Senior High School Ponpes Complex.

Also attended by the Chairperson of the Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI) of Kampar Regency, Mawardi M. Saleh, school principals as well as representatives of the teacher and student assembly, Head of Public Relations of the Riau Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner Sunarto, Head of Multi-Media sub-division, Police Grand Commissioner Attendant Ramlan, Head Deputy of Kampar Departemental Police, Police Commissioner Rachmad Muchamad Salihi and the Head of Bangkinang City Sectoral Police, Police Inspector First Class Khairil.
