Police Deployed 350 Personnel to Assist Cianjur Earthquake Evacuation Process

Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Cianjur. Hundreds of police were deployed to assist the evacuation and handling process of the earthquake that occurred in Cianjur, West Java. They consist of Sabhara personnel, Mobile Brigade Corps to the National Police Medical Team.

Head of Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo, said that approximately 350 personnel had been dispatched since last night. His party is also ready to send additional personnel to help with disaster management. "This assistance is to help the community," he explained.

The National Police also provided 3,000 food supplies for the earthquake victims. Not only that, the National Police also provided non-basic food packages such as blankets, women's needs, and children's needs.

"We are very concerned and send our condolences to those who died. We also pray for the people who is being treated to be given a fast recovery," explained the Two Star General.

He said that his party focused on evacuating and identifying victims. Based on initial report by the police medical team, 90% of the victims referred to the hospital have been identified. "There are only a few that have not been identified. The DVI team is trying to identify the victims and immediately hand them over to the families," said the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police.

The Head of the Public Relations Division also said that handling this earthquake requires synergy, cooperation, and collaboration between the Regional Government, the TNI, Police, the Disaster Management Agency, National Search and Rescue Agency, volunteers, and all elements of society.

Based on data as of last night, there are 162 who died due to this 5.6 magnitude earthquake. There were also 70 injured and 13,784 refugees.

A total of 14 evacuation posts have been established to facilitate 13,784 refugees affected by the earthquake. So far, the data showed 2,345 houses have been destroyed, with damage ranging from 60% to 100%.
