inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Head of the National Police's Security Guard (Kabaharkam Polri), Commissioner general (Komjen) Drs. Arief Sulistyanto, M.Sc., said that the scam, disguised as binary options trading, was using influencers and affiliates to market it on social media.

“The trading robot servers was in overseas. Then in here, they use affiliator or agents, and the influencers market it to the netizen,” said Kabahrkam Polri, Wednesday (9/2/2022).

Kabaharkam said that the perpetrators were using the Ponzi scheme by recycling the money by recruiting new investors. When the lot has been collected, they took the money away.

The Three-Star General also adds that the police investigation alone is not enough to handle this scam scheme. They required anticipatory steps, regulation, monitoring, and quick response in solving the issue.

“We required a strong regulation with heavy punishment because this is much more different than it was 10-15 years ago,” adds Kabaharkam Polri.

“KUHP alone is not enough,” he said.

There is surging cases of alleged fraud recently. Several victims have already reported the case to the authorities. In total, there are 1,222 Commodity Futures Trading (PBK) websites and 92 binary options domains that were prosecuted throughout 2021.
