Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Jakarta. West Jakarta Metropolitan Departmental Police successfully uncovers cannabis hydroponic garden and seized 200 cannabis pots, weighed 40 kg, and arrested four people during the raid.
"We, West Jakarta Metropolitan Departmental Police, delivered news regarding the raid conducted by the 3rd unit of Drugs Investigation Unit of West Jakarta Metropolitan Departmental Police on a cannabis cultivation garden using the hydroponic technique", Chief of West Jakarta Metropolitan Departmental Police, Police Grand Commissioner Ady Wibowo, in Jakarta.
Police Grand Commissioner Ady Wibowo stated that the case started from the arrest of a marijuana user who initialled TM and carried 3.8 grams of marijuana. Afterwards, investigators developing the case and arrested HF, a courier carrying 38 grams of marijuana. "From the arrest, we continue researching and managed to found a hydroponic cannabis garden in Brebes. We raided the place and found 300 pots of cannabis, with only 200 of them managed to grow", he said.
During the raid, investigators also arrested the suspect initialled SY as a security man and UH as the compound owner who had cannabis seeds and 29 marijuana rolls. The hydroponic cannabis is just three months old and not ready to harvest.
"One-pot of cannabis can produce 200 grams of marijuana, so 200 pots we seized could produce 40 kilograms", Chief of West Jakarta Metropolitan Departmental Police said.
Police Grand Commissioner Ady Wibowo stated that UH gave Rp550,000 as capital to SY and will pay Rp100,000 for each pot if it can be harvested. However, investigators are still exploring the perpetrator's motives for plating the cannabis because, based on the statements, the cannabis is only for private consumption and not for sale.
"Uniquely, UH are not selling the cannabis but only for private use. Previously, this person tried to grow the plants in Majalengka but with no result. The suspect then moved to Brebes", Chief of West Jakarta Metropolitan Departmental Police stated.
The investigators are still digging into how the suspect know the hydroponic technique for cannabis planting. However, as their action, TM as drug users is subjected to Article 127 of Law No. 35 of 2009 about Narcotics.
Meanwhile, suspect HF, SY, and UH are subjected to Article 114 paragraph 2, subsidiary to Article 111 paragraph 2, related to Article 132 paragraph 1 of Law No. 35 of 2009 about Narcotics with the threat of a minimum of 6 years and a maximum of 20 years in prison.
