Police Successfully Arrested the Main Perpetrator of Yahukimo Riots

Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Indonesian National Police stated that they successfully arrested Morume Koya Busup, the main perpetrator of the attack towards the Yali tribes, which led to riots in Yahukimo, Papua. The perpetrator was caught and arrested by Yahukimo Departmental Police and Nemangkawi Task Force.

The news was stated by the Chief of PR and Press Division of Indonesian National Police, Police Inspector General Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono, on Saturday (9/10/21).

"(The perpetrator was arrested on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at 03.40 in Gunung street, Dekai district, Yahukimo regency", Chief of PR and Press Division of Indonesian National Police said.

"Police also arrested another person named Beto Ordias. Both suspects are brought to Yahukimo Departmental Police for further investigation", Chief of PR and Press Division of Indonesian National Police continued.

Previously, Morume Koya Busup was known as the chieftain of the Kimyal tribe who attacked the Yali tribe on Sunday (3/10). Some evidence is seized, such as one bow, nine arrowheads, one axe, one cellphone, electronic devices, and ID card owned by the suspect.

After the riot, Police quickly arrested 52 attack suspects. Of the dozens of people arrested, 22 are named suspects of the riots that caused 41 people injured and six people to die.
