Tribaratanews.polri.go.id-Surabaya. The Water Intelligence Officer Team of the Law Enforcement Sub-Directorate, Directorate of Water and Air Police of East Java Regional Police, managed to apprehend two perpetrators who keep, possess, and trade protected animals alive, Friday (01/10/2021).
The arrests were made after information regarding the transportation of protected birds on a truck from Kalimantan to Surabaya using ships.

Initially, the Water Intelligence Officer Team of the Law Enforcement Sub-Directorate followed up on several trucks suspected of bringing animals from the port. Then the team received information that the bird had been transferred from the truck to a red Yamaha Vixion motorcycle.
"Furthermore, the team followed up on the information and secured the vehicle on Perak Timur Street Surabaya," said the Head of Public Relations Division of the East Java Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner Gatot Repli Handoko, Saturday (02/10/2021).
From the examination and interrogation results, it was found that two boxes or boxes containing the Eagle species were to be sent to Surabaya. The team then followed the courier while making the delivery and managed to secure the owner of the bird and other birds from the perpetrator's house.
The Head of Public Relations Division explained that Birds were obtained or ordered from Kalimantan through Social Media (Facebook). When delivery was placed in a cardboard or box, transported on a truck and brought to Surabaya by ship, then sent to the address in Surabaya using a motorbike.
As for the evidence that was successfully secured, namely from the suspect AS, 2 (two) sea eagles, 1 (one) brontok eagle, 1 (one) owl, 4 (four) falcons (1 is dead), 1 (one) unit purple Vivo brand cellphone, 1 (one) white Oppo brand cellphone, 1 (one) red Yamaha Vixion motorcycle unit with Police number L 5873 FI.
"Meanwhile, the US suspect secured evidence in the form of 7 (seven) birds of the Bondol Eagle species and 1 (one) unit of white Samsung brand tablet," he said.
For their actions, the perpetrators will be subject to Article 40 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 21 paragraph (2) the letter of the law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 5 of 1990, concerning Conservation of Biological Natural Resources and Their Ecosystems. With maximum imprisonment of 5 (five) years and a maximum fine of Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) 100,000,000 (One Hundred Million Rupiah).
