Police Reveal Mode 14 Cases of Illegal Online Loans

Tribratanews.polri.go.id – JAKARTA. Chief of Indonesian National Police, Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo revealed that from 2018 to 2021, he had enforced 14 cases of illegal online credit.

The mode is providing offers to prospective customers with easy requirements without having to meet in person. Has requirements for customers to follow the policies and conditions in online credit applications, namely by allowing customers' phone contacts to be opened by lenders.

"The collection is not carried out in a collection procedure by Financial Services Authority (OJK) demands Number 77 POJK 01 2016 concerning Technology-Based Borrowing Service Providers," explained the Chief of Indonesian National Police at the signing of the Joint Requirements for the Eradication of Illegal Online Loans, Friday (20/8/21).

The Chief of the Indonesian National Police said that in illegal online credit, the billing is addressed to the names in the customer's phone contact. There are also cases where the customer has paid for the credit, but the data is not deleted.

It is not uncommon for customer ID cards to be used by online credit providers to apply for credit in other applications.

The Chief of the Indonesian National Police hopes for the cooperation of related parties to eradicate illegal online credit.

"Cooperation to protect the public from illegal online credit and strengthen efforts to eradicate illegal online credit, and the synergy of protecting the community from credit offers and illegal online credit efforts," he explained.
