Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Directorate of Special Economic Crimes (Dittupidexus) of the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Indonesian National Police revealed a network of the crime of counterfeiting Rupiah and US Dollar denominations by arresting 20 suspects in five cities.
Head of the Public Information Bureau of the Indonesian National Police Public Relations Division, Police Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono said that the 20 suspects consisted of several networks, namely a network of counterfeit money dealers, counterfeit money makers, and dealers and makers of Counterfeit foreign currency notes, especially US dollars.
"From August to September, the Directorate of Special Economic Crimes (Dittupidexus) of the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Indonesian National Police has uncovered four cases of counterfeit money, consisting of several networks, the Jakarta-Bogor network, the Tangerang network, the Demak and Sukoharjo networks in Central Java," explained Head of the Public Information Bureau of the Indonesian National Police Public Relations Division at a press conference at the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Indonesian National Police, Thursday (23/9/21).
Furthermore, Director Deputy of Special Economic Crimes of the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Indonesian National Police, Police Grand Commissioner Whisnu Hermawan, explained that his party secured the Jakarta-Bogor counterfeit money network, the Tangerang area network, the Sukoharjo area network in Central Java, and the Demak network, Central Java.
Not only making counterfeit money, continued Director Deputy of Special Economic Crimes, this network also makes foreign currency, especially the US dollar. The 20 suspects, namely VM, M, EFY, TEM, P, NK, S, AS, SNI, MI, AJK, HS, BK, HP, M, B, RHH, I, MAM, and H aka A.
"So we succeeded not only in capturing the network related to the money maker or multiplier, but we also caught where the counterfeit money was made," explained Director Deputy of Special Economic Crimes.
The first network, continued Director Deputy of Special Economic Crimes, was an individual who made counterfeit US Dollar notes. This means that the fake money was made for foreigners with evidence of approximately 48 lacs.
"From the results of the development, they have been arrested in the areas of Jakarta, Bogor, and Tangerang. However, we are still investigating its manufacture," said Director Deputy of Special Economic Crimes.
Later, his party arrested a network of counterfeit money makers in Sukoharjo and Demak.
"More or less, the number of counterfeit money is around 110,138 lacs. But, of course, this has no price, and we will not mention the total value of how many billions there are no," he said.
Director Deputy of Special Economic Crimes also said that his party managed to capture the initials of MA and H aka B when they offered the counterfeit money.
"We managed to confiscate some evidence other than the counterfeit money, as well as several printers, computers, then several things and car evidence," he said.
The disclosure of the crime of counterfeit money by the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Indonesian National Police received appreciation from Bank Indonesia.
According to the Director of the Department of Money Management of Bank Indonesia, Imanuddin, the circulation of counterfeit money has an impact on the public and also disrupts the level of public confidence in the capital in circulation.
"Because money, apart from being an economic transaction, is also the sovereignty of our country," explained the Director of the Department of Money Management of Bank Indonesia.
Meanwhile, the 20 suspects were charged with Article 36 of Law Number 7 of 2011 concerning currency, which carries a penalty of 15 years in prison. Meanwhile, the suspect of selling counterfeit foreign currency is charged with Article 245 of the Criminal Code, a 15-year sentence.
