In the community of Pamekasan regency, Madura island, Unit Officer of Community Development Unit (Binmas) of City Departmental Police, Police Chief Brigadier Sutrisno. is not only known as the populist Police but the person who was born in Murtajih village of Pamekasan, also known as the Police personnel who is actively conducting Friday roving to be Bilal (praying time caller) in several mosques.
Every week he has a special schedule to be a Bilal in several mosques in Pamekasan and still to wear the Police uniform.
"First time of being Bilal and in the uniform was at the mosque of Kayu Manis Ponpes (Islamic Boarding School)", Police Chief Brigadier Sutrisno said when met in his office on Thursday (4/11/2021).
According to Police Chief Brigadier Sutrisno, he becomes Bilal in several mosques in Pamekasan because he wants to create a populist and serving image of a Police in the community. Besides, he also invites people to promote Salawat (Islamic songs of praise).
Besides being Police personnel, Police Chief Brigadier Sutrisno also become the Takmir (manager) of the Nurul Huda mosque of Pangkepek hamlet, Murtajih village, Pademawu district, Pamekasan.
"Every week. I become a Bilal at the mosques of Nyalabu Daya, Pamekasan Prison, City Sectoral Police, Pamekasan Departmental Police, Kayu Manis Ponpes, and at the area of my house", he said.
Not only that, but Police Chief Brigadier Sutrisno also becomes the main vocalist at the Salawat forum of Riyadlul Jannah Madura. Moreover, when reciting Salawat on stage, he still wears the Police uniform.
"I was asked by the Salawat forum leader to wear the Police uniform to be closer with the community", he said.
He admitted that he wants to change the negative stigma in the community about Police jobs. According to them, when he started being Bilal and active in the Salawat forum, some people did not like his presence. However, people's dislike is being slowly replaced with a common Salawat recital.
"I am focusing on promoting Salawat movement to the community because Salawat could cleanse our dirty soul", he explained.
Not only that, Police Chief Brigadier Sutrisno admitted that he is sincere in promoting the Salawat movement in the community. He advised that if the people want to follow the excellent Police behaviour, he has to provide the best example first.
"The people then later will make our behaviour an example, just like this Salawat promotion movement", he advised.
Now, Police Chief Brigadier Sutrisno also invites his colleagues and juniors to involve in this movement. He is grateful to many of his colleagues and juniors who join the Salawat.
"Now, there are more than 100 Police personnel who are involved in the Salawat forum as the congregation", he said.
Police Chief Brigadier Sutrisno also being grateful because he is being accepted and appreciated by the public thanks to his innovations. He advised not to be an arrogant Police when working with the community. Put the morals and behaviour first and respect each other.
Meanwhile, Chief of Pamekasan Departmental Police, Police Grand Commissioner Attendant Rogib Triyanto, appreciated the Salawat movement and Bilal activities conducted by his personnel. The behaviour becomes a good example for the community to be made as an example so Police could be closer to their society and create a safe, orderly, and conducive situation in Pamekasan.
"We the Indonesian Police will always commit to protect and serve people with sincerity to realise safety and order", he affirmed.
