Polewali Mandar Departemental Police Arrest Perpetrators of Child Abuse

Chief of Polewali Mandar Departemental Police, Police Grand Commissioner Attendant Ardi Sutriono accompanied by the Head of Criminal Detective Unit, Police Inspector First Class Agung Setyo Negoro and Head of the Women's and Children's Service Unit of the Criminal Investigation Unit, Police Inspector Second Class Vica Henriana, led the Press Release of the criminal case of sexual intercourse and molestation against minors by the victim's stepfather, Wednesday (27/10/2021).

Chief of Polewali Mandar Departemental Police, Police Grand Commissioner Attendant Ardi Sutriono explained the disclosure of sexual intercourse and sexual abuse cases against minors committed by the victim's stepfather that occurred in the jurisdiction of Polewali Mandar Departemental Police.

"The chronology of the incident began around February 2018 at that time the victim was eight years old. The perpetrator told the victim that he would treat the victim because the victim often urinated in his pants. After that, the perpetrator had sex and molested the victim. The incident repeated itself at different times and places until September 2021, when the victim was ten years old. To be exact, the victim was molested by the perpetrator, who is still the legal husband of the victim's biological mother (stepfather) more than ten times," said Chief of Polewali Mandar Departemental Police.

Chief of Polewali Mandar Departemental Police added that the victim's aunt discovered the inappropriate act after complaining of pain and bleeding when urinating. Then after knowing the information, the victim's aunt immediately checked her niece and asked about the actions carried out by the suspect. The victim admitted that it was confirmed that she had been sexually assaulted and molested by the suspect. After that, the victim's aunt and her family reported the incident to the Polewali Mandar Departemental Police for processing according to applicable law.

"Suspects or perpetrators of criminal cases of sexual intercourse and obscenity against minors committed by the victim's stepfather are subject to Article 81 paragraph (2), (3) Jo. Article 76D subs. Article 82 paragraph (1), (2) Jo. Article 76E of Law no. 17 of 2016 concerning the stipulation of government regulations in lieu of Law no. 1 of 2016 concerning the second amendment to Law no. 23 of 2002 concerning the protection of children Jo. Article 64 of the Criminal Code," explained Chief of Polewali Mandar Departemental Police.
