Polda Bengkulu Denies Information of Rp250,000 Fine to Restriction Violators

inp.polri.go.id – Bengkulu.  False information or hoaxes have spread in Bengkulu Province and several other provinces in the last few days. A photo containing information reminding the public about the mask raid has been widely circulated in the WhatsApp messaging application.


Head of Public Relations (Kabidhumas) of the Bengkulu Police (Polda Bengkulu), Kombespol. Sudarno, S.Sos, MH confirmed that the information was not true (hoax).


In those messages, it is stated that the Ditlantas Polda Bengkulu will take action against people who do not wear masks and apply sanctions in the form of a fine of Rp. 250 thousand.


“That false information not only happening in Bengkulu but also in several provinces. Hoax information like this also surfaced at the end of 2020," said Bengkulu Police Intermediate Officer, Monday (07/01/22).


Police Commissioner. Sudarno explained that the Bengkulu Police Ditlantas did not have the authority to take legal action against health protocol violators. Police and TNI are only limited to accompanying local government officers during the law enforcement process.


“We do not have the authority in those cases, it was Satpol PP. We and TNI were just helpimg by accompanying,” said Kabidhumas Polda Bengkulu.


Police Commissioner. Sudarno advised and invited the public to be wise in disseminating information.


“You could ask us directly through Facebook, Instagram, or came directly to our office,” concluded Kabidhumas Polda Bengkulu.
