The Use of Electric Cars in G20 Shows the Strong Commitment of Indonesia

Tribratanews.polri.go.id -  The G20 is just a few days away and the government still continue to ensure everything is set for the success of the event which will take place on November 15-16.

In the G20 Summit, 17 heads of state have confirmed that they will attend the meeting. Meanwhile, other thousands participants will also attend the grand international event. And definitely, the smooth mobilizations of these thousands participants requires a lot of preparations.

Thus, the Indonesian government has prepared 30 medium-size Red and White Electric Buses (BLMP) for the smooth mobility of the G20 delegation just as they arrived at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Denpasar. The bus will transport them to the meeting location at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC).

Head of Public Relations of the Directorate General of Land Transportation, Pitra Setiawan, said “Of the 30 buses, 19 units are already in Bali, 10 units are on the way, and one more bus will be sent on this weekend. These buses cannot be dispatched at the same time due to production reasons,” he said.

All of these buses are domestically made with a domestic content level (TKDN) of 76.98%.

"The bus has undergone a test at the Roadworthiness Testing and Motorized Vehicle Certification Center (BPLJSKB) in Bekasi, West Java," said Pitra.

In addition to the Ministry of Transportation, there were 11 medium and large size electric buses from a number of companies supporting the success of the G20 Presidency event. Thus, the total available electric buses are 41 units.

Apart from that, the government also provided 200 home charging from State Electricity Company and spread across in 12 different locations, including in Hotel Merusaka, Ritz Carlton, Grand Hyatt, Nusa Dua Beach, St.Regis, Laguna, Westin, Hilton, Samabe, Mulia, BNDCC, and ITDC.

The G20 presidency is also a momentum for Indonesia to show its commitment, while inviting the world to make an energy transition towards clean energy. President Joko Widodo has even issued a regulations which requiring government officials, both central and regional, to switch to using electric vehicles in government operations.
