Tribratamews.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The fire incident at the Class 1 Prison of Tangerang, Banten, which occurred on Wednesday (8/9/2021), left scars and public inquiries due to significant casualties.
The Police who handles the case admitted that they are still investigating to expose the fire's cause. Besides still investigating to look for the fire source, the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Team of the Indonesian National Police Great Headquarter, who is still investigating 41 victim bodies of the Tangerang Class 1 prison fire, explained problems occurring.
Even though the DVI team has successfully identified five prison fire victims and has 44 DNA samples, they still encounter problems. Secretary of Medicine and Health Centre of Indonesian National Police, Police Grand Commissioner Pramujoko, said that there are some problems that hindered the DVI team in identifying victim's bodies.
He said that one of the problems faced is the incomplete antemortem data. "The technical work saw no difficulties, and everyone could be identified, theoretically. Practically, there are some problems faced such as the incomplete ante mortem data", he said.
The practical problem is such as when the victim has a tattoo, but the family has no specific photo evidence. "For example, if the victim has a tattoo but the family has no specific photo. That could be the problem", he said.
Besides the problem of antemortem data, Secretary of Medicine and Health Centre of Indonesian National Police, Police Grand Commissioner Pramujoko, explained that the DVI team often encounters identification problems when the body is not complete.
However, he mentioned that all problems could be encountered with the technology such as testing through DNA samples, just like the ones happened to two foreigners who become the victim of the Tangerang Class 1 Prison fire.
"However, with the technological advances from the DNA, two foreigners' families could send the DNA data, and we can compare it to the existing data here", he said.
"The main thing is, the largest problem is if the antemortem data and the body's conditions are incomplete", he said on Saturday (8/9/2021).
