The NTB Regional Police (Polda NTB) took over the handling of the alleged rape case against a woman with a disability. Previously the case was handled by the Sumbawa Police (Polres Sumbawa).
"This case is getting a priority because the victim is a woman of disability," explained the Director of General Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum) of the NTB Police, Commissioner Hari Brata, Sunday (20/2/2022).
According to him, the investigation of this case is not optimized in Polres Sumbawa, where there is doubt if there is ever a conclusion of this case.
To speed up the investigation, Ditreskrimum of Polda NTB formed a special team. Sumbawa Police investigators were also involved in handling this case.
The alleged rape case took place in November 2020. The victim was forced and got a death threat if she did not obey the reported person with the initials HN. As a result, the victim became pregnant and has now given birth to a son.
Although lack of evidence, Polda NTB is sure they can solve this case. To strengthen the evidence, investigators will conduct a DNA test on the child born and will be matched with the complainant.
"Next week we will do a DNA test through the Forensic Laboratory in Jakarta. That will be strong evidence," he said.
After the results are released, investigators will conduct a case to determine the suspect.
“DNA cannot lie,” said Commissioner Hari Brata.
