Acting Head of Prisoner Sections from Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of North Sumatra, Erwedi Supriyatno said this vaccination was facilitated by the North Sumatra Regional Police as a step to accelerate the handling and prevention of Covid-19 among prisoners.
"We are targeted by the Dirjenpas so that all inmates without exception are vaccinated, because this is related to life problems. And of course all must be vaccinated," he explained, Monday (08/23/2021).
Acting Head of Prisoner Section Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of North Sumatra revealed that, for prisons and detention centers in Medan there were as many as 2,000 doses that were injected into the inmates. "Especially for this in Medan, 1,000 in the Class 1 Medan Prison and 1,000 in the Class 1 Medan Rutan," he said.
After the implementation of the first stage of vaccination, his party will also quickly carry out the second stage of vaccination. Alluded to which inmates received priority vaccinations first, his party answered that the WBPs were the elderly (elderly), companion prisoners (tamping), and rehabilitation prisoners (rehab).
“The police chief promised that he would continue to vaccinate all inmates. However, due to the current availability of 1,000 vaccines for each prison and detention center, it has only been implemented. And 28 days after this, a second dose will be given," he explained.
Acting Head of Prisoner Section from Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights also added that the first stage of vaccination was carried out for one day and during this vaccination the North Sumatra Regional Police Chief also instructed the Police Chief and the Head of Police Station to participate in assisting vaccinations in prisons and detention centers.
“There are several prisons that have coordinated with the Police. This is the first. However, previously it was already in Pematang Siantar Prison," he said.
On the occasion, the North Sumatra Regional Police Chief also greeted the prisoner and gave encouragement to the health workers on duty. In addition to the Head of the North Sumatra's Ministry of Law and Humand Rights Regional Office and the West Java Police Chief, the vaccination was attended by the Head of the Administrative Division Betni Humiras Purba, the Head of the Legal and Human Rights Services Division, who was accompanied by the Head of Prison I in Medan.
