North Sulawesi Regional Police Reveals Illegal Theology Colleges in Minahasa Related to Issuing Fake Diplomas

The Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of North Sulawesi Regional Police revealed the practice of universities that did not have a license to operate and illegally issued diplomas carried out by the Theological College College in North Minahasa, North Sulawesi.

The Head of Sub-Directorate for Specific Crime Cases of North Sulawesi Regional Police's Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation, Police Commissioner Ferry Sitorus, explained that the Theological College was not registered with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, and the College had been carrying out teaching and learning activities that had been running for five years.

Based on information from residents, police officers visited the location in Airmadidi Atas Village, North Minahasa Regency. As a result, they managed to confiscate evidence in 20 fictitious diplomas, receipts for payment of diplomas, and National Counter Terrorism Agency certification.

In the Police's case title, one suspect was identified, namely the university's rector with the initials MK alias Marten. The latter was suspected of being a motor in the illegal activities of the university.

The Head of the Specific Crime Cases of North Sulawesi's Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation's Sub-Directorate explained that the certificates issued without rights were given a price by the university varying from 2.5 million to 7.5 million rupiahs.

The suspect in the Constitutional Court was charged with the law on higher education and national education with a prison sentence of 10 years and a fine of 1 billion rupiahs. This case is now in the advanced stage of the process to the North Sulawesi High Court.
