Nemangkawi Operation Task Force Arrested KNPB Activist Involved in Hoax Spreading in Social Media

Tribratanews.polri.go.id- Merauke. Cyber Task Force of Nemangkawi Operation arrested an activist of West Papua National Committee (KNPB) initialled EKM (38) on spreading false and provocative information through the Facebook account of Manuel Metemko.
Chief of PR Task Force of Nemangkawi Operation, Police Grand Commissioner Iqbal Alqudussy, stated that EKM (38) was arrested in Perikanan Darat street, Kelapa V subdistrict, Merauke, on Wednesday night (09/06).
"The arrest of EKM is from the follow up of the previous investigation by Nemangkawi Operation Task Force and the issue of letter numbered LP/A/252/VI/2021/SPKT/Sat Reskrim/Res Merauke/Polda Papua of June 7, 2021", Police Grand Commissioner Iqbal Alqudussy said.
During the arrest, police also seized a blue Y15 2019 VIVO handphone.
The middle officer of the PR and Press Division of Indonesian National Police also appeals to the public to not spread fake news and provocative and hate-induced information designated to trigger hostility between individuals and groups of people.
"Do not spread the news that can lead to hostilities between people in the land of Papua. The Papuans want to live in peace", Police Grand Commissioner Iqbal Alqudussy said.
For their action, EKM now detained in Merauke Departmental Police and may be subjected to jail sentencing for few years as stated in article 45 A paragraph 2, which related to article 28 paragraph 2 of Law No. 19 of 2016 about Amendment of Law No. 11 of 2008.
