Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A member of the National Police Commission (Kompolnas), Poengky Indarti, appreciated the performance of Counterterrorism Special Detachment 88 (Densus 88) of the Indonesian National Police which was deemed as effective and professional even become one of the world's best Counterterrorism Detachment.

Poengky Indarti even confused and regretted the statement of the parliament member that stated Densus 88 should be disbanded due to its islamophobic suspicion and made the terrorist as the commodity.

"Densus 88, since its establishment, has successfully enforced the law towards the terrorist in the country. With this achievement, Densus 88 is one of the world's best Counterterrorism Detachment", Poengky said when confirmed in Jakarta on Friday (8/10/21).

According to her, Kompolnas, as the Indonesian National Police functional observer, highly appreciated the effective and professional Counterterrorism Detachment.

Not only Kompolnas, but the world also focused on the performance of Densus 88. Poengky shared several articles with the narrations on Counterterrorism Special Detachment 88. In 2016, Reuters published an article titled "Fighting back: How Indonesia's Elite Police Turned the Tide on Militants".

In the said article, Professor on Terrorism Research and Expert at the Global Islamic Politics of Alfred Deakin Institute in Melbourne, Greg Barton, said that Densus 88 has become better than some other counterterrorism groups in the world.

The following article was issued in 2018 by The Conversation titled "How Indonesia's counterterrorism a model for the region".

Poengky also shared an article with a statement from Sidney Jones, a terrorism expert from the International Crisis Group, published by Republik.co.id titled: "Sidney Jones: Indonesia's Counterterrorism Effort is the Best", published in 2011.
