Tribratanews.polri.go.id -Jakarta. The steps taken by the Indonesian National Police to commit to recruiting Islamic students have received appreciation from National Police Commission. This step by the Indonesian National Police is considered appropriate to fight and reduce extreme radicalism that can infect law enforcement officers.
"The recruitment of members of the Indonesian National Police from among the Islamic Student, I think is very positive in its true meaning. Islamic Student with a general understanding is someone who tries to understand his religion through a mursyid or a supervising teacher who has a scientific authority chain that is connected through his teachers to the Prophet, "explained National Police Commission member, Mohammad Dawam, in a written statement, Sunday (5/12/2021).
He added that, in other words, an Islamic Student must have a religious guidance teacher. Thus, religion is not understood with a piecemeal understanding. Therefore an Islamic Student will undoubtedly know that the holy spirit is beneficial for personal, social life and building his nation.
“The nation and country where he lives is a place where he prostrates, earns a living and socializes with various groups. So, in the context of thinking like this, an Islamic Student can be sure that he will always love his homeland, his nation as he loves human dignity," he explained.
He added that the proposal of various groups so that Islamic students get a unique portion to participate in the recruitment of members of the Indonesian National Police. Even including the recruitment of the Police Academy is a long-term project that has been implemented by the Indonesian National Police and should continue to be evaluated.
“The aim is clear to present the spirit of religious values in the context of the nation and state. So in the future, it is hoped that the role of these police Islamic Students will be to contribute to the nation at the point of civilization," he said.
The presence of the Islamic Student police is also sought to minimize religious extremism that leads to criminal acts of terrorism in Indonesia.
“I appreciate the policy of the Chief of Indonesian National Police in continuously recruiting Islamic Student to be involved as members of the Indonesian National Police in various places and positions. Thank you, Mr Chief of Indonesian National Police," he said.
