inp.polri.go.id - Buleleng. The Buleleng Police (Polres Buleleng) have finally uncovered the mystery of the Malaysian-flagged yacht that was bobbing in the waters of northern Bali yesterday. Based on the results of the police investigation, the owner of the yacht is an Australian citizen, as well as the owner of The Lovina in Singaraja City, Buleleng. The yacht was found by fishermen on Banyuasri Beach, Buleleng, Bali.
The yacht, Sundancer 44, had a Malaysian flag. Police soon arrived at the location of the ship after receiving a report from local fishermen, however did not find any crew of the yacht.
"After checking the ship, no crew members were found and the cabin was locked," said Buleleng Police Chief (Kapolres Buleleng) AKP I Gede Sumarjaya.
They found that the hull was leaked due to a collision with a rock.
Police suspect that the boat's mooring rope broke, causing it to drift away. The Head of Public Relations (Kasi Humas) of Polres Buleleng said the police had secured the ship so it didn't drift away again.
"We have found the owner. The ship was untied and eventually stranded there," stated Kasihumas Polres Buleleng.
Initially, the owner of the ship moored his boat in the waters near his hotel. However, the ship detached from its moorings and was tossed around until it was stranded in the waters of northern Bali, adds Kasihumas Polres Buleleng. The boat was found by fishermen and reported to the police.
"There was an information from the police that he went to the location where the ship was stranded," he explained. The ship was purchased from Malaysia and now has been brought home by its owner.
