Law Enforcement Task Force of Crime Investigation Agency of Indonesia National Police Revealed 33 Cases of Hoarding and Price Raising of Covid-19 Drugs

Law Enforcement Task Force (Gakkum) of Crime Investigation Agency of Indonesia National Police investigated 454 cases of special economic crimes for the period July 16 - August 1, 2021. Of these cases, 33 were related to hoarding and increasing the price of drugs for handling Covid-19.

"With number of suspects 37 people," Head of Public Affairs Division of Indonesia National Police, Police Grand Commissioner Ahmad Ramadhan, explained the Monday, (08/02/21).

Head of Public Affairs Division of Indonesia National Police said of 33 cases, Crime Investigation Agency of Indonesia National Police took action on eight cases with 19 suspects. Total of five cases with 10 suspects were handled Directorate of Special Economic Crimes and three cases with three suspects were handled by Directorate of Drug Crimes.

Head of Public Affairs Division of Indonesia National Police said 19 suspects were selling online and in person. The 19 suspects are charged with Article 196 of Law Number 36 Year 2009 on Health.

"Trading drugs that do not have the expertise and authority, with the threat of 10-year prison sentence and maximum fine of IDR 1 billion," Head of Public Affairs Division of Indonesia National Police explained .

Head of Public Affairs Division of Indonesia National Police said of the 33 cases, police confiscated 365,876 Covid-19 therapeutic drugs from various brands. Then, 62 vials of Covid-19 therapy drugs of various types and brands and 48 oxygen cylinders.

Operation Aman Nusa II ends tonight at 24.00 Western Indonesia Time. Even so, police continue to take precautions in handling Covid-19 with Enhanced Routine Activity.
