inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) is holding an operation to handle over loading (ODOL) trucks with the aim of eliminating ODOL vehicles in 2023.
Directorate of Law Enforcement (Dirgakkum) Korlantas Polri Brigadier General Aan Suhanan said the operation was held for 14 days simultaneously throughout Indonesia. The sanctions from the operation ranging from fines to criminal threat.
“The criminal processs is just as usual law enforcement, which there will be an official report, investigated until court ruling with the threat of one year of imprisonement or fine,” he explained, Thursday (10/2/2022).
Brigadier General Aan Suhanan explained that almost all the vehicles caught in this operation were overloading. However, there were also several vehicles that were caught due to over dimension.
There are some that reached 200 percent overload, such as the vehicle only permitted to carry 20 tons while the payload up to 60 tons. “There is an excess of 40 tons. For traffic violations we gave them tickets, and we also lower those excessive load,” explained the Dirgakkum of Korlantas Polri.
The One-Star General emphasized that ODOL vehicles is prohibited and there were 57 cases of accidents involving ODOL from April to December 2021.
“Other than causing accidents, this overload also cause high cost social, damaging roads, and traffic jam. As we can see, this ODOL caused so many problems,” concluded Dirgakkum.
