North Sumatra Police Chief (Kapolda Sumut) Inspector General Drs. R. Z. Panca Putra S, M.Sc., encourage the acceleration of booster vaccines by prioritizing the vaccinations for the elderly.
Kapolda Sumut said that the elderly are among the vulnerable groups to Covid-19, for that they must be vaccinated immediately so that herd immunity can be achieved.
"I have ordered the officers to register all the elderly in their respective ranks. For those who have not been vaccinated, the vaccinator will do door-to-door services," said Kapolda Sumut.
Kapolda Sumut said vaccination was one of the efforts to suppress the spread of Covid-19. Vaccination acceleration for the entire community must be completed immediately.
“We have recorded how many the first, second, and third doses the community have received. According to the notification from the central government, people who have been vaccinated by the second dose three months prior should immediately receive a booster vaccine," said Kapolda Sumut.
Kapolda Sumut hopes that the acceleration of vaccination for the community, especially for the elderly and children, can be completed before entering the holy month of Ramadan.
"We must optimize the vaccinations, both for the second and booster dose, before entering Ramadan to prevent any surging cases of Covid-19," he concluded.
