Towards the celebration of Chinese New Year 2573 and Cap Go Meh 2022, West Kalimantan (Kalbar) Police
held Operation Liong Kapuas 2022 ceremony, Monday (31/1/2022).
Kalbar Police Chief (Kapolda) Inspector General (Irjen) Drs. Suryanbodo Asmoro, M.M., explained that this ceremony was held to check the readiness of all personnel and infrastructure.
“To show to the people that Kalbar Police along with Stakeholders are ready to secure the celebration of Chinese New Year and Cap Go Meh 2022,” he explained.
According to him, the Covid-19 pandemic is still ongoing, so hereby the Police would cancel the cultural celebration on February 15, 2022, under the instructions of the Governor of Kalbar, but the Chinese New Year celebrations will still be held.
"Securing Chinese New Year 2573 and Cap Go Meh 2022 are the main tasks of the state in staging the celebration of the Chinese Ethnicity because the people here live in harmony with various ethnicities," said the Kapolda Kalbar.
Kapolda Kalbar Drs, Suryanbodo Asmoro, M.M., said that there are 8 security focus points. For now, they are focusing on the cities of Pontianak and Singkawang.
"Perform joint patrols between the TNI-Polri and other agencies," he said.
Meanwhile, Kalbar Governor H. Sutarmidji also stated that cultural celebrations of Cap Go Meh 2022 are forbidden regarding concerns about mass crowding.
"For the implementation of Chinese New Year prayer, it will still be carried out along with implementing health protocols," he concluded.
